Firefighters have been around for a long long time.
There have been volunteers, on call firefighters, and paid
firefighters since the times of the Great Pyramids. In the Roman
Republic, Firefighters were privately organized and funded groups
operating as a business instead of a service. They were later
organized into a professional firefighting service that was trained,
supplied, and supported by the government. Now, we have professional,
part-time, and volunteer firefighters in almost every city.
(The 3 Amigos of the Lexington FD) The Lexington Fire Department has two station with fire engines, brush trucks, and ambulances.
